Sons of Guns Song | Theme

Sons of Guns Song

Sons of Guns - Red Jacket Firearms
The inspiration for this post was the quest to find the artist that sings the Sons of Guns song, the theme in the opening sequence. Sons of Guns, if you don't know, is a new hit series on the Discovery Channel. It chronicles the staff of Red Jacket Firearms.

Red Jacket Firearms is based in Baton Rouge, LA, was founded by Will Hayden. Hayden, an ex-Marine, grew up with an extensive self education of warfare and firearms. Will has actually brought his daughter Stephanie Hayden on as a business partner and manager. Much of Red Jacket's success is owed to other members of the staff, some most frequently seen are gunsmith Vincent Buckles, and apprentice Kris Ford (don't forget about gunsmith Joe Meaux).

Sons of Guns Theme Song & Music Video - Shelter Me

The theme song for Sons of Guns is sang by Tab Benoit, and is called "Shelter Me." The version on the T.V. show is actually a remake of the classic by Buddy Miller. The song has been a popular question floating around the web lately. So if you found it here, enjoy!

Shelter Me Lyrics

The Earth can shake, the sky come down,
the mountains all fall to the ground.
But I will fear none of these things,
shelter me Lord underneath your wings.

Dark waters rise and thunders pound,
the wheels of war are going round
and all the walls are crumbling
shelter me Lord underneath your wings.

(Shelter me Lord)
Hide me underneath you wings,
hide me deep inside your heart
in your refuge - cover me
the world can shake
but Lord I'm making you my hiding place.

The wind can blow, the rain can pour,
the deluge breaks, the tempest roars
but in the storm my spirit sings
(when you) shelter me Lord underneath your wings.

(Shelter me Lord)
Hide me underneath you wings,
hide me deep inside your heart,
in your refuge - cover me,
the world can shake
but Lord I'm making you my hiding place.

Now on the day you call for me
someday when time - no more shall be,
I'll say oh Death where is your sting,
you shelter me Lord underneath your wings.

California Gurls Lyrics - By Katy Perry

Snoop Dogg
Greetings loved ones
Lets take a journey

Katy Perry
I know a place
Where the grass is really greener
Warm, wet and wild
There must be something in the water
Sippin' gin and juice
Laying underneath the palm trees
The boys
Break their necks
Try'na to creep a little sneak peek

You could travel the world
But nothing comes close
to the golden coast
Once you party with us
You'll be falling in love
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

California girls
We're unforgettable
Daisy Dukes
Bikinis on top
Sun-kissed skin
So hot
will melt your popsicle
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

California girls
We're undeniable
Fine, fresh, fierce
We got it on lock
West coast represent
Now put your hands up
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

Sex on a beach
We get sand in our stilletos
We freak
In my jeep
Snoop Doggy-Dog on the stereo

You could travel the world
But nothing comes close
to the golden coast
Once you party with us
You'll be falling in love
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

California girls
We're unforgettable
Daisy Dukes
Bikinis on top
Sun-kissed skin
So hot
will melt your popsicle
Oooooh Oh Oooooh

California girls

Song Lyrics|Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead Or Alive

Wanted Dead or Alive - By Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi Wanted Dead or Alive
"What's that song from Deadliest Catch on the Discovery channel?" That is what I always ask myself. Either that or it's "What is that Bon Jovi song where the lyrics are about being a cowboy and a on a steel horse I ride?" Well, the name of the song is Wanted Dead or Alive.

Bon Jovi has even made it onto VH1's 100 Greatest Hard Rock Songs list.

The Lyrics:

It's all the same, only the names will change
Everyday it seems we're wasting away
Another place where the faces are so cold
I'd drive all night just to get back home

(x 2)

I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted dead or alive
Wanted dead or alive

Sometimes I sleep, sometimes it's not for days
And the people I meet always go their separate ways
Sometimes you tell the day
By the bottle that you drink
And times when you're alone all you do is think

(Chorus)

I walk these streets, a loaded six string on my back
I play for keeps, 'cause I might not make it back
I been everywhere, and I'm standing tall
I've seen a million faces an I've rocked them all

I'm a cowboy, on a steel horse I ride
I'm wanted dead or alive
I'm a cowboy, I got the night on my side
I'm wanted dead or alive
And I ride, dead or alive
I still drive, dead or alive
Dead or alive
Dead or alive (x 2)

Song Lyrics - Jimi Hendrix: All Along The Watch Tower

There is no denying the masterful ability that Hendrix had to bend the bounds of music on the old six string. While I now stand in an awe filled respect for the man's talent, I have to admit, at first I hated his music. Although, in all honesty, I don't know that I ever even knew what songs stemmed from this artist, the genius that is Hendrix.

Jimi Hendrix - Song Lyrics
All along the Watch Tower:

There must be some way out of here
Said the joker to the thief
There's too much confusion here
I can't get no relief
Businessmen they drink my wine
Plowmen dig my earth
None of them know along the line
What any of this is worth
No reason to get excited
The thief, he kindly spoke
There are many here among us
Who think that life is but a joke
But you and I, we've been through that
And that is not our fate
So let us not talk falsely now
Because the hour is getting late

All along the watchtower
Princes kept the view
While horsemen came and went
Barefoot servants too
All I got is a red guitar
Three chords
And the truth
All I got is a red guitar
The rest is up to you

There's no reason to get excited
The thief, he kindly spoke
There are some among us here
Say that life is just a joke
You and I, we've been through that
And that is not our fate (at least today)
So let us not talk falsely now
Because the hour is getting late
Late...

Song Lyrics - Jimi Hendrix's album Electric Ladyland.

Diddy - Making His Band

Sean Combs, P.Diddy, or... Diddy

No matter how you say his name, you've got to love the music. Accompanying a long list of rappers with multiple names and aliases... Diddy churns out hits, new artists, and products at a speed the franchiser's of McDonald's could appreciate. Well Diddy's up to it again.

Recent ads show that Diddy is embarking on another world tour in 2010, but wants to audition no-name, would-be artists to add to his band. He doesn't want to create a new band, but actually wants to add to his own. Which leaves me wondering if he is just trying to eek out another season of his show, promote his upcoming tour, or actually trying to launch some new music careers.

According to MTV's casting call site, his call began on 02/24/2009, but ended before I ever saw any ads for it on 03/31/2009. The call was for aspiring vocalists and musicians, ranging from guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard, alike. New members have a chance to back him on his next and upcoming album "Last Train to Paris."

The auditions were held in New York at the S.I.R. Rehearsal Studios. Family members of contestants were not allowed to accompany their potential super star, due to limited space at the facility. Those auditioning were asked to preform numbers from:
  • American Boy -- Estelle
  • Heartless -- Kanye West
  • Last Night -- Diddy
  • Message in a Bottle -- The Police
  • I Miss You -- Blink 182
  • September -- Earth Wind & Fire
  • Rehab -- Amy Winehouse
  • All This Love -- DeBarge

No matter what comes of this... I have faith Diddy will produce some great stuff on this new album. I'm a huge fan of his old music and the Bad Boy Franchise, so we'll have to see what comes from this. Check his old albums.

Michael Jackson Songs

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009).
One of, if not the most, famous recording artist ever! Known as the king of Pop (pop music), Michael was one of the best selling artists in history.

On June 25, 2009 Michael Jackson was pronounced dead at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center at roughly 2:25pm. Jackson's death is one in a series of shocking Hollywood deaths lately. Also recently deceased are TV infomerical and pitch man Billy Mays (OxyClean), David Carradine (Kill Bill movies, Kung Fu TV series), and Farrah Fawcett (Charlie's Angels). While all of these recent deaths made headlines, it seems as if Michael Jackson's death shadows all of the other three.

Michael Jackson dominates iTunes

Eight of iTunes top 10 songs have been dominated by Michael today. Michael's total domination of iTunes was only foiled by the Black Eyed Peas. Other than the two songs the Black Eyed Peas managed to hit, Michael reigns supreme.

Today's iTunes rankings:

  1. Man in The Mirror (Michael Jackson)
  2. I Gotta Feeling (Black Eyed Peas)
  3. The Way You Make Me Feel (Michael Jackson)
  4. Boom Boom Pow (Black Eyed Peas)
  5. Billie Jean (Michael Jackson)
  6. Black or White (Michael Jackson)
  7. Smooth Criminal (Michael Jackson)
  8. Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough (Michael Jackson)
  9. Thriller (Michael Jackson)
  10. P.Y.T. [Pretty Young Thing] (Michael Jackson)

Greg Pattillo

Beat boxing flute?

Yeah, it sounded kind of stupid to me too when I read the caption. However, once you start listening, it's hypnotizing. Like some kind of Rahzel ("Godfather of Noyze") off-shoot, this type of music blends jazz style flute with hip-hop. The artist, Greg Pattillo is a very talented guy. Very precise. Animated.

I've linked some video here, check them out:

Frank Sinatra - Fly Me To The Moon Song Lyrics

Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra... a complete bad ass. You've got to love Frank Sinatra. This isn't a ploy to get you to agree with me... it's a command. YOU'VE GOT TO LOVE FRANK SINATRA! This man is the voice of love. An artist with one of the most recognizable voices of all time. He lived from 1915-1998.

Frank Sinatra also ran with The Rat Pack. The Rat Pack was the elite boys' club of both music and Hollywood in the 1950's and 1960's. This club was constructed of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and Peter Lawford.

This iconic group became so visible that a pop-art movement was sprung in likeness of The Rat Pack. Many online poster retailers have numerous renditions of the men playing pool or hanging out (image below). Frank Sinatra can also often be seen with the famous likes of Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe.

(Read More About Frank Sinatra here.)

Frank Sinatra -Fly Me To The Moon Song Lyrics

Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling, kiss me

Fill my life with song
And let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, I love you

Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
Let me see what spring is like
On Jupiter and Mars
In other words, hold my hand
In other words, darling, kiss me

Fill my life with song
Let me sing for ever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words, please be true
In other words, in other words
In other words, in other words
In other words
I love ... you

Garth Brooks - Alabama Clay

Country Music - Garth Brooks: Alabama Clay Song Lyrics

I bought my last Garth Brooks CD not long ago. It was not my first Garth Brooks CD however. I am a huge Garth fan! This CD cost me a whopping $3.00! It's a dated album of his, his first.

A while back, my sister and I were in the car. We wanted to listen to Garth Brooks for old times sake. She wanted to hear his song Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old). Upon digging through my cumbersome CD case, she notified me that I didn't have this album. I was almost positive that I owned every Garth Brooks album out there. I was wrong.

I made a mental note to pick up a copy as soon as possible. Wandering through Wal Mart (still trying to break the habit of not buying from local business), I found it at the bargain basement price of $3.00! I was shocked, but happy.

The CD lay in the back seat of my car for the next few weeks. I was listening to Tony Dungy's audio book, Quiet Strength. After that I followed up with Robert T. Kiyosaki's: Before You Quit Your Job. Upon finishing these audio books, I was in the mood for music again. I saw the still sealed disc in the backseat and immediately tore it open.

I sang along to all the ones I knew, which were most of them. Then came Alabama Clay. The music sounded familiar, as did the song. I wasn't sure if I remembered the track, or if it just seemed like I did. I decided these thoughts were pretty trivial and directed my attention back to the lyrics.

The vivid song spoke to me. I relate to the lyrics of this particular song, the older I grow. I remember times from my youth on horseback with my family, camping trips, vacations to national parks, trips to the lake, and more. It seems like the older I grow, the more time I spend in the city. So this song hit me. It's a great song.

Quick Album facts:
According to the official Garth Brooks website (click here), the album (titled: Garth Brooks) started it all. The site states: "One Artist. One decade. One hundred million. This is the album that started it all." This particular album sold in excess of 9 million units!

Garth Brooks -Alabama Clay Song Lyrics:

First time he saw the ground get busted
He was ten and it was 1952
His daddy worked hard from sunup to sundown
And the goin' got tough behind them ol' gray mules

The farm grew to be a moneymaker
And the house he lived in grew up room by room
The boy worked hard but soon got tired of farmin'
So he slipped away one night 'neath the harvest moon

(First Chorus)
His neck was red as Alabama clay
But the city's call pulled him away
He's got a factory job and runs a big machine
He don't miss the farm or the fields of green

Now the city's just a prison without fences
His job is just a routine he can't stand
And at night he dreams of wide-open spaces
Fresh dirt between his toes and on his hands

Then one day a picture came inside a letter
Of a young girl with a baby in her arms
And the words she wrote would change his life forever
So he went to raise his family on the farm

(Second Chorus)
His neck is red Alabama clay
Now he's goin' home this time to stay
Where the roots run deep on the family tree
And the tractor rolls through the fields of green

(Repeat Second Chorus)

His neck is red as Alabama clay.

This cover actually does the song justice. Very nice work. Enjoy.

Justin James - Sun Drenched

Artist: Justin James
Album: Sun Drenched

Online Music RadioAlright... a little background information for you first. I learned about Justin James on Pandora. Pandora is quite possibly the best thing ever to happen to web, it blends both the power of the internet and the beauty of music.

Pandora is a fully customizable radio with multiple stations. You can literally tailor music stations to your tastes. Mine, for example, include a country channel, a rap channel, and an acoustic channel. You can get even more mixed or more specific from there. For example I have a station called "Chill Rap" which has the more smooth R&B style of rap songs. I also have station that is called "Good Times" radio (which stems from Tommy Lee's song Good Times). Good Times Radio is just basically a station that I approve songs that put me in a good mood.

My favorite feature of Pandora is the thumbs up, thumbs down button. Hear a song you can't stand? Give it a thumbs down and you'll never hear it again. It will also avoid playing songs with similar qualities to that one. If it's just not right for that station, you have the ability to move it to another. The thumbs up tells Pandora to bring you more songs like that. You can also click for more info on the artist, the track, the album, etc. From there you can purchase the MP3 from Apple or Amazon. Pandora is pure sweetness! (Are you jealous candied apple?)

Justin James - Sun Drenched

Justin James playing guitar on beachAlright, on to main subject. Justin James is cool west coast music. I'd call his style a blend of poppy riffs and lyrics, coupled with laid back, beach rock guitar (you are welcome to call me out on this, as I am not a music aficionado). Justin's sound kind of makes feel like I'm on an island or somewhere relaxing... much like Kenny Chesney's new direction.

One day, while trading (yes, trading futures... see my blog about that here http://www.biz-tone.blogspot.com) and checking the charts... I am listening to Pandora, then I hear an upbeat melody radiate from my computer. Curious, I minimize my charting windows and direct my attention to Pandora's artist and track details. Low and behold, I'm introduced to the music of Justin James.

The song Right here, Right now was playing. It's really the only one of his I'd heard. I think it's a pretty bad ass song. After doing a little more recent research, I've come to also like the song California by Justin. In fact while writing this article and viewing his official web page, I haven't found a song of his I don't like... I tried finding MP3 tracks to embed of Right Here, Right now... but it has been pretty damn hard. If you're interested, check out the album.

For more info:
Justin James is signed to 10 Spot Records, which sounds like it is a semi-indie record label. From my understanding, they do have ties to larger music venues for distribution purposes. You can also find Justin James listed at 10 Spot Records.
