Assassins Creed II : Xbox 360

Video Game on the Christmas list

Assassins Creed II is one of those video games that comes along every now and then, and sells you from the moment you see the commercial. The graphics are simply insane. The story line looks clutch. You also know, just by watching the advertisement... that you will be hooked for hours upon hours. Your body will not feel the warmth of natural light, nor will your lungs breath in fresh air for days. Your eyes will burn from straight sleep deprivation. Your entire sensory system will be on overload... and yet, you will thank yourself.

At first glance, I feel that this game is reminiscent of Tenchu. If you are not familiar with Tenchu, it was a game centered around feudal Japan, and you assume the role of a ninja assassin. The game objectives require the player to perform a series of stealthy tasks, all deeply tied to the ability to slip by unnoticed.

Upon doing some online research, this looks like one of the most well rounded games released this year. Aside from playing an insanely amazing game, you get the feeling that you are in for a cinematic adventure that could rival the likes of Dreamwork's. Couple that with the fact that this game is in a category of titanic contenders in the video game world, and up for an onslaught of awards... you're in for one hell of a game.

Assassin's Creed II has won several awards from Gamespot as well as a slew of nominations:
  • The Editor's Choice Award.
  • Best New Character Award. For the Character Ezio.
  • Nominated for Best Story of 2009
  • Nominated for Best Graphics (Technical)
  • Nominated for Best Original Music
  • Nominated for Most Improved Sequel
Look, bottom line here: This game gets my vote. It's got the story. It's got the play. When it comes to spending my hard earned greenbacks, this game gets them.

Make sure to check out Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood for one of your 2010 Christmas gifts.
