Garth Brooks | The Dance Lyrics

It's funny, although this is not one of my personal favorite songs by Garth, it is one of the most well known of all my non-country music listening to friends. With good reason I guess, because it is one of Garth's first number one, chart topping hits after all. And don't get me wrong, just because it's not one of my favorites, doesn't mean I don't like it. I think it's a great song.

The Dance, was sort of a preview as to Garth's ability to top the charts with his music. Garth allure and the ability to capture such a wide audience is as simple, as it is genius. The songs are very relatable and general, which appeals to a mass demographic.

This is the song that gave Garth Brooks much of his initial recognition and acclaim. This song also won Garth many awards, which I have listed below. For now, we'll move onto the lyrics.

The Song Lyrics:
Looking back on the memory of
The dance we shared 'neath the stars alone
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known that you'd ever say goodbye

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

Holding you I held everything
For a moment wasn't I a king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all

And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance

Yes my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd have had to miss the dance.
